During World War II, a top-secret unit of 1,100 artists, actors, and sound engineers used inflatable tanks, sound effects, and radio trickery to fool the German army. Their mission was so classified that the truth didn't emerge until 1996.
Where every story matters, every truth deserves to be told, and every question is worth asking.
I'm Alan Best — author, podcaster, and lifelong student of history. My passion has always been the stories that slip through the cracks of official history: the forgotten heroes, the impossible decisions, the moments of extraordinary courage and devastating failure that shaped the world we live in today.
As a U.S. Navy veteran, history isn't abstract to me. It's personal. The men and women I write about — the spies, the decision-makers, the ordinary people who did extraordinary things — wore the same uniform I wore, faced the same fear I understand from the inside.
My goal with everything I create — books, podcasts, YouTube — is simple. To make sure the stories worth telling actually get told. And to tell them in a way that makes you feel like you were there.
Military service that grounds every story I tell in authentic understanding.
